Sleeping With Socks Helps To Fall Asleep
Jan 04, 2019

Many people like to sleep in socks, especially in the winter。 They think that wearing socks at night can keep warm. So how about sleeping in socks at night? A study by the Swiss National Sleep Laboratory found that wearing socks helps fall asleep quickly.

The researchers recruited a group of volunteers and divided them into two groups, one sleeping in socks and one not in. As a result, it was found that the temperature of the hands and feet was higher than the room temperature and the average sleep time was shorter than that of the person who did not wear socks.

When a person is about to fall asleep, the central nervous system will redistribute the heat from the core of the body to the hands and feet. Therefore, heating by hot water bottle, warm blanket on the calf, and wearing socks will accelerate the heat transfer distribution process. This will help promote the release of sleep hormones and make people fall asleep faster.
